My name is Melissa Renou, and I am the founder and principal of the Melissa Renou Academy of Dance. I am a fully qualified ballet and modern dance teacher affiliated with the Cecchetti Ballet and AIDT societies. My journey in dance began at the age of three when I started ballet, and at six I expanded into modern dance under the training of Ms Michele Pope.

Throughout my training, I have been committed to achieving excellence. I completed my Advanced 2 Ballet examination in 2013 under Ms Michele Pope and Ms Yvonne Barker, followed by my Associate Ballet qualification in 2015. In 2021, I was proud to achieve 98% for my Associate Diploma examination, for which I was awarded the prestigious Dorothea McNair Trophy for the best qualifying exam of the year. Since then, I have continued my professional development under the mentorship of the highly respected examiner Ms Yvonne Barker and have successfully completed my Licentiate qualification.

I am deeply passionate about preserving and continuing the Cecchetti Legacy through my teaching. My goal is to make a meaningful impact within my community by providing excellent training while helping children build confidence, discipline, and self-worth through movement. I believe that every child, regardless of natural ability, has the potential to reach their fullest potential in dance with the right guidance and encouragement.

Through my teaching, I strive to share my passion and inspire my pupils to experience the joy and fulfillment that dance can bring.
